PERMANENT & RELIEF STORE KEEPER – McGill’s Bus Service Ltd.

Permanent Store Keeper - Greenock depot.

Relied Store Keeper - Able to travel to all 4 depots if and when required.

A vacancy has now arisen for a permanent Store Keeper and a permanent Relief Store Keeper at McGill’s Bus Service Ltd.

With a fleet of over 300 vehicles, the engineering department is a 7 day a week operation. We have invested over £21m in new buses, equipment and technology in recent years.

This role is full time and permanent with a basic working week of 40 hours, typical working hours are Monday – Friday from 8am – 4.30pm, however, there may be a requirement to work additional hours as required by the company.  A Competitive rate of pay is available.

The Team

Each depot has a full maintenance facility and we have two paint and  body shops within the business. Our standards are uncompromising – our on-street vehicle presentation is amongst the best in the UK.

This role is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-moving quality driven environment, with great pay and career prospects. You will hold the correct experience for the role, but attitude is much more important than a polished CV.

As a Stores Person your role would be to receive, store, maintain, issue, count and dispatch all items required to meet the business requirements. Experience in the parts industry is desirable, but not essential.

Main duties:

  • First point of contact dealing with parts enquiries and orders
  • Timely delivery of materials and stock
  • Accurate inventory of stock to make sure all-parts ordered are delivered and are the correct parts needed.
  • To monitor parts inventory and anticipate future parts needs
  • Maintain cleanliness in all stores areas
  • Participate in stock takes.
  • Undertake additional or other duties as may be deemed necessary to meet the needs of their business.
  • You may be required to work at any other location in West or Central Scotland
  • The successful candidate must be conversant with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of stock control systems / software.
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise and work on own initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels


Experience of vehicle parts and store keeping experience preferred.


Clean, valid driving licence
