Fuel Efficiency Manager

McGill's is Scotland's largest bus company, with depots in Greenock, Inchinnan, Coatbridge, Johnstone and Barrhead.

Due to continued expansion and further investment in new innovation/technology, an exciting new vacancy has been created for the post of Fuel Efficiency Manager.

In this role, the successful candidate shall be responsible for the effective and proactive utilisation of McGill's new TRAFFILOG/TELEMATICS system and shall work closely and effectively with all Depot and Engineering Managers at each location to ensure that all vehicles derive the maximum fuel efficiency throughout the business.

Qualifications & skills
  • Holder of current and valid PCV/CPC
  • Excellent written and report writing skills
  • Excellent IT skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, EP Morris, and Traffilog systems (Traffilog training given)
Job specification
  • Engage with drivers and staff to ensure buy-in to project ethos
  • Effectively implement, control and manage all Traffilog/Telematic systems in vehicles to ensure to maximum fuel efficiency, increase driver and vehicle safety and fleet monitoring leading to overall improved utilisation of vehicles and reduced operational expenditure on vehicle fleets
  • Liaise closely with McGill's managers to ensure the kit is fully functioning and take the necessary pro-active steps to deal effectively with any work issues that arise
  • Implement, identify and monitor fuel cost efficiencies and liaise with managers on best practice and be proactive on seeking practical resolutions
  • Responsible for weekly key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Lead a programme of continuous development through regular reviews and identifying appropriate driver training needs and improvements when necessary
  • Highlight and report driving trends of vehicle accident behaviours and risk management 
  • Maintain system and procedures to ensure fuel efficiency, compliance and proactively communicate between driver and management with a positive end conclusion
  • Any other duties as required by Head of Operations and Senior Management
