The wheels on the bus go round... for Aileymill Nursery Class

We were delighted to support children's learning about 'People who help us' when it provided a bus for nursery children from Aileymill Nursery in Greenock.

Our local Greenock depot was more than happy to organise two buses, one for the morning class and another for the afternoon, for over 100 children and staff.

McGill's visited the nursey to let the children see and sit on the bus. They were also encouraged to learn how boarding a bus works and how to keep safe. They learned how to buy a ticket as they gave their penny fare to the driver and received a ticket in return. Goody bags were organised by McGill's too.

Kay Anderson, Lead Practitioner, from Aileymill Nursery Class, said: "We would like to thank McGill's for supporting the children and nursery. Many of the children have been learning about transport and had shown particular interest in buses as they are familiar with McGill's. Our aim was to highlight the role of a bus driver to children and how to use a bus safely. We have also had visits from the local Bakers, Fire Service and the Police.

"The kids all had a great time and loved their driver, David."

Rachel Stewart of McGill's said: "As a local bus company, we were keen to get involved to assist with the children's learning of public transport. It was a great day out for all involved and the nursery employees were a pleasure to have on our bus."
