McGill's supports local charity - Morton in the Community

McGill's is supporting Morton in the Community's Literacy trail, which sees children from two local schools enjoy an educational day out at Morton grounds!

Over the course of March, both children from Newark Primary and St Andrew's Primary in Inverclyde, take part in the Morton in the Community, literacy trail, which involves a range of educational experiences which tie in with the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence

McGill's organised for the children to be picked up from their school and taken to Cappielow, and dropped off again, to ensure they had safe transport for their trip.

We were happy to get involved in this project as it allows children a fantastic way to learn new things and provides them with an unforgettable experience. Inverclyde is where McGill's head office is located, and we recognise a large amount of residents depend on our services every day. As a company, McGill's keen to support the local community where possible, even if it is gestures like providing transport for schools.

McGill's is putting together goody bags for the last week of the literacy trail, for all the kids involved too. To make their final trip to the football grounds extra special!

Gordon McKillop, Morton in the Community operations manager said: "The Greenock Morton Literacy Trail is a fascinating project. Children come to Cappielow and learn through football. Teachers tell us we are engaging children in literacy who wouldn’t otherwise without the unique learning experience of Cappielow, Greenock Morton and football on the whole.

"Children come to Cappielow on the McGills Morton FC team bus. Not only is this support giving the project more sustainability but gives participating children a wonderful and unforgettable experience.

"McGill's has become a key project partner to the Greenock Morton Literacy Trail and we look forward to our work together for years to come."
