McGill's invests in fleet

We are committed to making travel more sustainable after placing a £4.8m order for low emission buses.

The delivery of the 26 single deck buses will be added to the fleet by the end of March 2019. The buses will be added to routes in Inverclyde, Renfrewshire and Glasgow.

With the new additions including engine stop/start technology, this will ensure the vehicles are fully compliant of the Low Emission Zone Glasgow is set to introduce at the beginning of next year.

McGill's has invested £8.3m in new buses in the last 18 months alone and spent a further £2m on new ticket systems with features such as contactless payment, with the aim to increase convenience for customers.

James Easdale, Chairman of McGill's, said: "We're delighted to support a Scottish bus manufacturer and my brother Sandy and I are particularly proud that we have done this deal entirely free of subsidies, which is quite unusual in the current business climate."
