McGill's going further into the green scene, with Hybrid bus trial

We have introduced a Mercedes-Benz, hybrid bus which is being evaluated for two weeks on our busy 38 route into Glasgow city centre!

We're the first company in the whole of the UK to sample this type of Citaro Hybrid model on our routes, as it was previously trialled in Europe.

Back in 2014, McGill's invested £2.8m in fourteen new Mercedes Benz Euro 6 Citaros, which were the first of its type in Scotland and the first Euro 6 low emission buses in Glasgow, Renfrewshire and Inverclyde.

If you would like to catch it and be one of the first in the UK to travel on this bus, you can find it at these times Monday - Friday:

Paisley town centre to Glasgow: 08.15, 10.03, 12.48, 14.33, 17.18, 20.15
Glasgow, Union Street: 09.13, 10.58, 13.43, 15.25, 18.15, 20.58
Paisley town centre to Johnstone: 11.35, 16.05, 18.52, 21.30

You can travel with McGill's GoZone 1 tickets too, view prices here.

The single decker consists of new features such as intelligent eco steering - which is demand driven and only requires energy when performing the steering role-  reduced fuel usage, less engine noise and fuel savings that can reach up to 8.5%. As well as existing Citaro features which include a smooth journey, internal temperature management and a high degree of comfort for customers. Overall, this will result in an excellent passenger experience and greatly reduced impact on the environment.

80% of McGill's current fleet is Euro 4 and above, and this is part of our greening strategy, which also coincides with Glasgow's low emission zone strategy.
