Local school takes trip on McGill's open-top tour

Local school St Joseph's learned about Inverclyde heritage with McGill's open-top tour!

We were delighted to help local school, St Joseph's by allowing their Primary 6 class to hop on our open-top tour of Inverclyde.

The one hour tour, takes cruise passengers around iconic sites such as; Sugar Sheds and James Watt Doc & Marina, Newark Castle, Lyle Hill and West Kirk.

The company's local Greenock depot was more than happy to organise the trip for 18 children and two teachers to learn about the rich history of Inverclyde and the skills required to become a tour guide.

McGill's picked the children up from their school via coach and dropped them at the Ocean terminal for them to board the iconic, red open-top bus.

Kathleen Smillie, Acting Principal Teacher, St Joseph's Primary said: "The children learned a great deal on their tour as well as what it takes to be a good tour guide. There were lots of interesting facts especially about the town's involvement in shipping and sugar.

"They thoroughly enjoyed their morning and we can't thank our tour guide, Pat and driver, Kevin enough for a great trip. We're delighted McGill's supported our school with a fun and educational experience for the children."
