From Buses to Rally Cars

McGill's drivers, Mark McKay and Sharon McNaughton are going to take on 862 miles - in just 24 hours!

Mark and Sharon, both drivers at our Barrhead depot, are taking on the difficult challenge to visit every senior football club in the country, that will start at Dingwall and end at Hampden Park.

The 24-hour car trip, will be in aid of Who Dares Cares - a charity which helps people with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Last year, Mark bought a Ford Focus, which he successfully transformed into a rally car, and will take him and Sharon on their fundraising trip, this 15 September.

The date of the event is quite significant too - as it will be exactly 10 years to the day that Scots rally hero Colin McRae, his son and two friends died in a helicopter crash.

Mark as a tribute is turning his Ford Focus into a replica of the car Colin drove at the World Rally Car Championships in 2001.

Mark said: "I knew I wanted to do some sort of driving challenge and thought of 'the stadium challenge'. I planned the route and we'll visit 42 clubs in 24 hours. I decided on the charity as it is quite a new charity set up by two soldiers, and I know the money myself and Sharon raise will be going to an excellent cause.

"My colleagues at McGill's have already donated around £250, and I hope to raise at least £5000 for charity come September. I can't thank everyone enough for the support shown."
